I realized that I was exhibiting universal truths and values that communicated with Korea even though I was born and raised in Canada; more as a Canadian than a Korean-Canadian because I never felt different while I was being raised in Canada. I always was a part of a cultural melting pot.

A timeline of major events, appointments, bilateral initiatives, establishments, celebrations, accomplishments, and historical milestones of Canadians who are connected to Korea and the Korean people, from 1888 to present.

1900: Rev. James Gale becomes the first minister of Yondong Presbyterian Church (연동교회) in Seoul.

1950: North Korean forces cross the 38th Parallel into the Republic of Korea; 16 member nations joined forces to resist the aggression; 26,791 Canadians served in the Korean War.

1999: Sandy Lee (이승신) elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories in the electoral district of Range Lake, re-elected for the third time in October of 2007, appointed as Minister of Health and Social Services on October 22, 2007.
