Dr. Jinme Yoon, Artist/SFU Professor
Jinme Yoon is an artist born in Seoul in 1960, who currently lives and works in Vancouver. She teaches at SFU’s School for the Contemporary Arts. She was a finalist for the Art Gallery of Ontario’s Grange Prize in 2009, and in 2013, she was awarded a Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship.
Her art explores subjects including identity, place, and subjectivity in an increasingly globalized era. Her works include photo and video installations. Landscapes, sites, cities, people, objects, and materials in her works often provide a “departure point for broader issues and geopolitical particularities to be identified[1].”
