Dr. Alexander Herd

Dr. Alexander Herd was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. He currently holds a Bachelor of Science from Wheaton College, a Master of Arts from Kansas State University and a Master of Information from the University of Toronto. He also has a PhD in Canadian Military History from the University of Calgary.[1]

Dr. Herd served as the Lead Researcher, Project Manager and Senior Researcher at the Historica-Dominion Institute’s Memory Project, which organizes school and community events for veterans and Canadian Forces members to share their stories[2]. The Memory Project’s archive contains over 2,800 testimonials and over 10,000 images from veterans of the First and Second World War, the Korean War and peacekeeping missions[3].

Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Herd and the Historica team, the stories and experiences of Canadian Korean War Veterans will live on as a reminder of the important role that Canadians played.

Dr. Herd currently works in Toronto as a Library Services Coordinator at SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health.
